Wondering if you should bring your kids to Blue Tang Inn? The answer is absolutely! Belize is a welcoming and safe destination for families, and our beachfront resort in San Pedro is the perfect place for a memorable family vacation. Our Marketing Director, Kristin, frequently travels from Minnesota with her three children, and they have made lifelong memories here. With plenty of activities and friendly locals, your kids will love every moment of their Belize adventure.

Things to Bring for Kids

To make your stay even more comfortable, here are some recommended items to pack for your children:

Favorite Convenience Foods
Each suite at Blue Tang Inn includes a full kitchen, making it easy to prepare meals and snacks. While local grocery stores are well-stocked, imported items can be pricey. Consider bringing along your child’s favorite non-perishable snacks like cereal, fruit snacks, granola bars, mac & cheese, and peanut butter and jelly.

Favorite Toys
A change of scenery can make familiar toys feel new again. Pack a few favorite items like Barbies, Matchbox cars, stuffed animals, or other waterproof toys—perfect for playing by the pool or beach.

Life Jackets
Children love swimming off the dock in front of the inn or wading into the ocean from the beach. Life jackets provide peace of mind, especially during sailing boat tours or snorkeling trips.

San Pedro Activities for Kids

There's no shortage of kid-friendly activities both at the Blue Tang Inn and around San Pedro. Here are some of the best ways to keep your little ones entertained:

Blue Tang Inn Pool

Our small, shallow pool is perfect for kids. It's right in front of the hotel, gets warmed by the Belizean sun, and provides endless hours of fun. Ask the front desk for pool toys-we simply request that you return them after use.

Beach Play

The sandy beach in front of Blue Tang Inn is a natural playground. With calm waters protected by the reef, it's ideal for toddlers and young swimmers. Local kids often swim off the nearby pier and are happy to show visiting children how to join the fun. Beach toys are available at the front desk.

Golf Cart Exploration

Renting a golf cart is one of the best ways to explore San Pedro and Ambergris Caye. Kids love the ride, and it's a great way to discover local shops, restaurants, and scenic spots. The front desk can help arrange rentals.

Secret Beach

A 30-minute golf cart ride north of San Pedro Town brings you to Secret Beach, known for its crystal-clear, shallow waters and sandy bottom-perfect for kids. Bring floaties, enjoy the free beach, and grab a bite from one of the nearby restaurants.

Sail & Snorkel Adventures

Take a Sirena Azul Sail tour to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. There is a safe and comfortable cockpit area of the boat for you and your family to relax. Even if your child prefers to stay dry during the snorkel stops, they can marvel at the nurse sharks while the boat captain feeds them.

Inland Trips

Let our staff arrange a family-friendly inland tour. Visit the ancient Lamanai Mayan Ruins, zipline through the jungle, explore caves by inner tube, and stroll the Belize Zoo for a day of adventure. If you're lucky, you might even spot playful monkeys along the way!

Ice Cream Stops

A daily ice cream stop is a must! Manelly's Ice Cream and Dandee's Frozen Custard, both a short walk from the inn, serve up the island's best frozen treats.

Arts and Crafts

Bring along art supplies or pick some up locally. Kids love creating art under the Blue Tang Inn's palapa while enjoying the warm Caribbean breeze.
