Honestly, we love helping couples create intimate weddings in Belize. There's more than one way to make it official here, and every option feels a little different.

A beachfront wedding in Belize means trading pews for palm trees and an aisle runner for warm sand. Even your guests enjoy curling their toes in the sand as you say your vows with the Caribbean stretching out behind you. If you would rather skip the sand, picture your ceremony aboard the Sirena Azul, drifting on calm water with the whole island as your witness. 

Perhaps a quiet moment poolside with palm trees swaying overhead as you share your vows is a better fit. Or maybe the rooftop deck is calling your name, saying "I do" as the sun dips over Ambergris Caye.

Small weddings, elopements, vow renewals, and milestone anniversary trips all work beautifully on our stretch of beach. Maybe you're picturing a full Belize elopement, or maybe a quiet Belize vow renewal. A few celebrations we host most often:

Our Intimate Wedding package covers seven nights for the couple, the ceremony essentials, and a dinner for 15 guests, all for one set price. Here is what's included:

• Seven nights in an Ocean Front King Suite for the two of you

• Legal marriage paperwork and an officiant for your ceremony

• Full ceremony setup handled by our staff

• A wedding dinner at Blue Tang Inn for up to 15 guests

• Three tropical arrangements for your tables

• A wedding cake for 15 guests

• Plus, round-trip local flights from Belize City's international airport to San Pedro for the couple

The full package runs $5,500 USD, including tax and a 10 percent staff gratuity. Additional guest rooms run about $250 per night, plus 19 percent tax and gratuity. Round-trip local flights for extra guests cost $199 per person. 

To help everyone get around the island, a four-seater golf cart can be rented for $250 for five days. Many couples also choose to add a Sirena Azul half-day snorkel trip or sunset sail for $75 per person. It gives guests something fun to do together before or after the ceremony.

We won't sugarcoat it: getting legally married in Belize takes some paperwork. The good news is we walk every couple through it, and the process is straightforward once you know the steps.

One of you needs to be in Belize at least three days before applying for a marriage license. After you apply, the license itself takes two days to process. You will also need two witnesses at your ceremony. After the ceremony, we help you register the marriage with the Belize Registry Department.

What you need depends on your situation.

If neither of you has been married before: 

• A completed marriage license application, notarized by a Justice of the Peace

• Certified photocopies of the photo page and Belize arrival stamp from both passports

If either of you has been married before, you will need those same two items, plus your final divorce decree.

If either of you is widowed, you will need those same base items, plus a copy of the death certificate

A couple of notes across the board: 

• All photocopies need to be certified

• Application forms cannot be submitted by fax

The marriage license fee varies. If one or both applicants are Belizean, the fee is $50 BZD. However, if both applicants are non-Belizean, the fee is $200 BZD ($100 USD). There are a few additional fees, including an administrative fee, courier charges, notarizing, and a minister's fee. Our wedding package bundles all that paperwork into a single price, so you are not chasing down separate fees on your own.

Saying your vows aboard the Sirena Azul follows the same legal process, and we handle the marriage license paperwork as part of your ceremony. Charters are limited to a total of four people, so it works best for the two of you plus up to two guests. Sunset ceremonies typically depart from the pier in front of Blue Tang Inn between 4:30–7:30pm local time. Your time on the water includes light appetizers, beer, wine, and soda.

The biggest logistical piece of a Belize destination wedding is simply getting everyone to the island. So a little planning goes a long way.

Good Belize wedding planning starts with the flight schedule, since everything else tends to fall into place once your guests are on the island. Book your flights early, especially if you are marrying during the dry season from December through April, which is also peak wedding season here. Multiple airlines fly direct to Belize City, including American, United, and Delta. Wednesdays tend to have the best international airfares. Once you land, we help arrange your local flight from Belize City to San Pedro. Plus, we also provide complimentary transportation from the airstrip to the inn.

Pack your wedding dress in a garment bag as a carry-on so you never have to be separated from it. Once you arrive, ask us about steaming services to freshen up your gown before the ceremony.

• Keep your guest list small; fewer guests means lower costs and more time with those closest to you.

• Book a wedding coordinator or planner early.

• Get travel and wedding insurance before you go.

• Add a sunrise or sunset photo session outside the ceremony itself.

Most couples build their wedding weekend around four moments: a welcome gathering, a group excursion, a sunset toast, and a farewell brunch. A sample lineup we have seen work well:

• Welcome cocktails on the rooftop deck the evening guests arrive.

• A Sirena Azul snorkeling trip or sunset sail to get everyone together before the big day.

• The ceremony itself, followed by your included wedding dinner.

• A farewell brunch on the palapa before guests head home.

Rent a golf cart or two so guests can get around San Pedro between events without waiting on rides. Just a note: it’s best to follow standard rules of the road even when driving a golf cart.

Popular dates fill up months ahead, especially during the December through April dry season. We recommend booking your package and travel at least 6 to 9 months in advance. Elopements can be planned a little quicker.
